The beautiful Pliego countryside
Buying your
Spanish property will probably be one
of the most important decisions you'll make, let us help make it an
enjoyable and satisfying experience!
We have seen many clients arrive in Spain, some driving hundreds
of miles from one province to another to view properties. Within the short time
they have in Spain this is a tiring, frustrating, confusing and
expensive experience!
With energies sapped they return home, no further
ahead than when they started. Many give up altogether. Compare this to buying property in the
UK – who would arrange to view a property in Penzance and then drive
to John O'Groates the next day to view
another?
But buying your new home in Spain needn't be like this! With
a more focused approach, the search will be an enjoyable and stress-free experience.
Before making your travel arrangements, we recommend you research
and then centre on a region that is ideal for
you. If you are looking for a rural home, see
our information pages about Murcia and Valencia. And we have
descriptions and pictures of many beautiful towns and villages in the area
including Abanilla, Bullas, Cehegin, Jalance, Mortalla and Pliego.

So, you have now chosen your region, but now you must consider
what kind of area within that region would suit you best. Are you
seeking a
coastal location or somewhere in the country?
This is a very important decision because many people choose their first
property on the Spanish coast, but then want to escape the crowded “Costa”
with its hustle and bustle of tourism, jammed roads and petty crime.
Now they want the peace and tranquillity
of the countryside, to experience "real Spain". But moving from the
coast can be costly and frustrating. Many find
it hard to sell because of the many coastal properties on the
resale market. And many have to reduce their price to below the market value.
And even then, selling can take long time –
especially where developers are selling new properties at lower
prices.
So if, like many others, your intention is to make your final home in a rural countryside location, it is
probably better to make your first purchase
here.

Having chosen your region and area, you can now think about the type of
home you
want. There are many options and questions, such as a detached
villa, an apartment, a new build or a property to reform. And then
you must consider how many bedrooms, how much land you would like,
etc.
And there are probably other important factors, such as the distance to the nearest airports (this
could be important if you plan to fly back to the UK regularly), the road network, nearest schools, hospitals, medical centre
and banks, and how far to the coast.
